Owned and run by Michelle and Mark Rasdall, we trade as an independent sweet shop within the Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe company brand.
We set up our family business in the spring of 2017 as a mobile unit, enabling us to explore different parts of the country, and had a lot of fun doing so - so much so that in June 2018 we opened a new shop on the High Street in Worcester. As well as serving our customers in Worcester we plan to continue to supply sweets to events across the Three Counties.
Michelle first worked in London, organising national and international events for the children's charity, NCH (now Action for Children).
More than 25 years ago she set up the Samara Ballet School to serve the rural communities of East Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk. The school was entirely socially inclusive, offering classes to everyone; of any age, nationality and ability and regardless of disability, special needs or financial means. The emphasis was always on having fun ... in Michelle's own quirky and hugely effective style!
Michelle is also DBS checked, a qualified first-aider and is a children's chaperone, travelling extensively to supervise children, often engaged in theatre and film productions or photographic shoots.
Mark also worked in London, as an information specialist in the media industry for more than 30 years. This included spells at the advertising agency, Saatchi & Saatchi, its professional body, the IPA and the national newspaper marketing organisation, Newsworks
Several years ago, Mark set up his own proofreading consultancy and publishing company, Burwell Web Communications. He now spends much of his time writing, specialising in aspects of history - including a humorous look at the history of sweets: A funny thing happened on the way to the sweet shop - and football history, but also fiction, including poetry and novels.
Having helped Michelle on a number of her dance school productions Mark is also fully DBS checked.
